Dance music is a space where new futures are not just imagined, but made concrete – in the studio and on the dancefloor. Berlin imprint SSPB brings together a global community of producers who capture the thrilling, shapeshifting sound of clubs in the present moment - dance music’s constant evolution captured in real-time.

Founded by Modeselektor’s Sebastian Szary and Gernot Bronsert in the early techno-era of post-wall Berlin, SSPB (Seilscheibenpfeiler Schallplatten Berlin) blends the uncompromising punk spirit of early dance music with forward-looking, future-proof sonics. Fostering daring new club music through releases, events and radio shows, the label’s output captures the sheer excitement of finding something that captures the present moment – an electrifying shock to the system enough to put a smile on the face of even the most jaded of dance music heads.

SSPB’s incendiary 12” series acts as an incubator for bracing new sounds, giving underground artists a platform and providing known-names an opportunity to explore sonic wormholes outside their usual purview - from blistering breaks and heavyweight, chest-rattling bass stomp to giddy ballroom bounce and heat-seeking dancehall, often in the space of a single release. Regular parties in Berlin and the label’s Rinse FM show connect producers and listeners over the airwaves and on the floor, creating a space for world-building.

While SSPB’s name and logo originally evoked a very specific sense of place - the Seischeibenpfeiler in Rüdersdorf, Germany, a piece of industrial equipment-turned-monument, the label has since transformed into a truly international endeavor, forging links across perceived boundaries – whether genre of geographical.
